The Open golf packages & holidays
The Experience St Andrews is delighted to announce its recent appointment as an Authorised Provider of the Open Ticket Programmes. We have put together a unique selection of golf experiences which will give you fond memories of the 2021 Open Championship.
The historic St. George’s Course
The venue for the 2021 Open Golf Championship is Royal St George’s Golf Club. Founded in 1887, Its founder, Dr William Purves, intended it to be a rival to St Andrew’s. In 1902, King Edward VII granted Royal status to the club. Royal St. George’s is located on the coastline of Kent, touching the bay of Sandwich and is set among wild, imposing dune land.
It was the first venue outside Scotland to host The Open and champions at this venue include illustrious figures like Henry Cotton, Bobby Locke, Sandy Lyle and Greg Norman. In 2021, The Open Championship returns to Royal St. George’s for the first time since 2011, when Brit Darren Clarke fulfilled a childhood dream and became Open Champion in a wet and windy contest.
Royal St, George’s embodies the best in golfing skills - big, clean drives are needed across these expansive links, as is boldness to play out of the numerous bunkers. At the same time, it has a quirkiness and charm very similar to that of the great Old Course at St. Andrews. What’s more, its beauty is in its seclusion. There’s no more beautiful sight than when gazing out to sea over the sand dunes.

All our programmes and packages provide a complete service from the moment you arrive.

The Open Championship - what makes it so special?
Every golf major has its own identity, but none is stronger than the oldest of them all, The Open, which presents players and spectators alike with dramatically different venues and styles of golf. The famed British weather can change the complexion of a tournament from day to day, morning to afternoon and even hole to hole. It calls on great golf professionals to adapt and be creative with different parts of their games. Champions need to be at the peak of their game to tame these links courses and hold the famous claret jug aloft.
