Trump Intl Golf Links Ireland

This course, previously known as Doonbeg golf course before it re-opened in 2016 as Trump International Golf Links Ireland, was originally developed during the late 1990s. It spans an area of more than 360 acres in stunning County Clare, from land purchased from local farming families. Greg Norman designed the original Doonbeg links course, which opened in 2002 with an exhibition match between Greg Norman himself and Padraig Harrington. It instantly earned the coveted title of the Golf Digest Best New International Course.

In 2014, Donald Trump purchased the course and implemented a redesign program. The Trump Organisation envisioned a truly great links course, and brought in one of golf's best-respected designers, Dr Martin Hawtree, to help them achieve it.  In 2016 the re-named, redesigned golfing resort opened its magnificent 18 holes to the public for the first time and the rest, as they say, is history.  Trump Doonbeg was recently named ‘The Number 1 Golfing Resort in Europe’ by Conde NastTraveler and a ‘World’s Best’ by Travel and Leisure.

Play Trump Intl Golf Links - Doonbeg to experience a marvellous, relatively new golfing challenge. Beautiful natural landscape has been disrupted as little as possible and the result is quite magnificent: a first-rate links course offering stunning views of the Atlantic from sixteen of its 18 holes. Playing golf at Trump International Ireland delivers a memorable experience, not only from the course itself but from the luxurious 5* amenities that surround it in the form of a spa and fine-dining restaurant. The par-72 layout features one great loop of nine holes out and nine back, representing a worthy challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Featured hole – Hole 18

The 18th is a fabulously picturesque 432 yard Par 4, which bends right before curling left as you approach the green. There's a sandy beach just fifteen feet below the fairway, then nothing but endless miles of roaring Atlantic Ocean. If you can finish your drive from the back tee in less than 300 yards you should avoid a couple of tricky fairway bunkers to the left of the hole. If you move up one tee box they're within reach on a 260 yard poke. A picturesque setting makes the hole even more special – it’s a marvellous end to a splendid game.

Known for its splendid opening hole and excellent par-3s

Doonbeg provides one of the very best opening holes in Ireland, a Par-5 that kicks off on a beautiful green set in a natural amphitheatre of dunes covered with tough marram grass. There's also a strong collection of par threes, the best of which is the 138 yard 14th. This is the most scenic hole on the course, bunkerless and best played from an elevated tee to the green 15 feet below. Some experts say it's one of the best par-3s in south west Ireland, which is high praise indeed considering the calibre of courses on offer there.
